DETAILS OF CRUISE
THE LIFFEY CRUISE 15/16 SEPTEMBER 2018
Detailed instructions will be issued to all skippers a few days ahead of the event. One thing to think about now - it is really important to have two VHF radios so that you can contact the fleet on CH 72 and monitor the PORT on CH 12. If you don't have two, buy, beg or borrow one now!
**** REMEMBER WE ENTER THE LIFFEY ON THE SOUTH SIDE INSIDE THE RED CAN BUOYS AND OUTSIDE (SOUTH OF) THE SHIPPING CHANNEL.*** NO NEED TO CONTACT PORT VTS ON CH 12 IF FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
All three bridges will lift starting SATURDAY with the East Link first at 1500 hours. Make sure you are not late by arriving in the vicinity or alongside the Poolbeg SC with at least an hour to go. Its a good idea to have lunch at Poolbeg (toasted sandwiches) or aboard, and relax with friends.
Once through East Link which we will do keeping very close together, we make our way up the Liffey past Samuel Beckett and Sean O'Casey bridges, to the Matt Talbot footbridge which does not open.
Take your time and fly your flags! fly your spinnaker is wind permits.
Then proceed to the new Port Pontoon just at the Point Depot which has plenty of room for all. Big boats inside, Smaller ones rafted out. Timing of parade of sail 1500-1600.
There is no power or water but there is security.
