The Annual General Meeting of the Cruising Association of Ireland will take place at 19:00 on Saturday 12 May 2012 in the National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire.

All cruising sailors are welcome to attend, but only paid-up members may vote.

The constitution provides for a substantial committee, and we are constantly looking for members who take an active interest in the management of the assocation. If you feel you might be ready to help the association by serving as a committee member, please let us know.

Seabed survey: illustrated talk

Exciting new maps of Ireland's Seabed

On Thursday 2nd February there will be a fascinating talk organised by DUSAC in Trinity College at 7.30pm on the Infomar Project. The Integrated Mapping For the Sustainable Development of Ireland’s Marine Resource (INFOMAR) programme is a joint venture between the Geological Survey of Ireland and the Marine Institute. This is a successor to the Irish National Seabed Survey (INSS) and concentrates on creating a range of integrated mapping products of the physical, chemical and biological features of the seabed in the near-shore area. The results achieved so far are stunning and Charise McKeon and Koen Verbruggen who are key scientists for the project will present an illustrated talk explaining the techniques and showing some unique images of the wrecks they have mapped so far. Admission is free and the talk will take place on Thurs 2nd Feb in the Joly Theatre, Hamilton Building, Trinity College Dublin, get directions with this Trinity Location Map.
